Chief Election Commissioner Thapaliya to observe US presidential election
Kathmandu, November 5 — Chief Election Commissioner Dinesh Kumar Thapaliya has traveled to the United States to observe the upcoming presidential election, where Donald Trump and Kamala Harris are set to compete.
Thapaliya is in the U.S. at the invitation of the U.S. Federal Election Commission. After completing his observation duties, he is scheduled to return to Nepal on November 9. This was confirmed by Narayan Prasad Sapkota, spokesperson of the Election Commission.
Once Thapaliya returns, the Election Commission will take some important decisions regarding the upcoming local level by-election, which is scheduled for December 1.
The Commission still has to make decisions regarding various election-related matters, including ballot printing and transportation.
