Iran Claims 41-43 Million Attended Ayatollah Ali Khamenei's Funeral

Tehran. Iranian media claimed that 41 million to 43 million people participated in the funeral ceremony of Iran's late Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.

Iran's Press TV claimed Khamenei's funeral was the largest funeral procession the world has ever seen. The funeral and condolence program, which lasted for six days, was organized in five cities: Tehran, Qom, Najaf, Karbala, and Mashhad.

The official public condolence program began last Saturday at the Grand Mosalla religious complex in Tehran. Thousands of Iranian citizens paid their final respects to Khamenei's body there.

Representatives of Iran's regional allied groups also participated in the ceremony. Representatives from Hamas and Islamic Jihad in Gaza, Hezbollah in Lebanon, and the Houthi group in Yemen attended the funeral, according to Iranian media.

Khamenei's funeral was held at the Imam Reza shrine in Mashhad, Iran's holiest Shia shrine. He was killed more than four months ago in a joint airstrike by the United States and Israel at his residence in central Tehran.
