MP Pramesh Kumar Hamal Questions Government on Good Governance

Kathmandu. Opposition party Nepali Communist Party MP Pramesh Kumar Hamal has questioned the government asking, 'Does good governance not apply to the ruling party?'.

Speaking in a special time during the House of Representatives meeting on Thursday, he said so. MP Hamal was angry that the government was giving concessions to anyone from Prime Minister Balen Shah to any member of the ruling party in matters of good governance.

He also claimed that the current government is engaging in politics of revenge by seeking accountability and transparency only from the opposition parties. MP Hamal objected, saying that the government is only arresting the opposition without reason and then investigating.

He said, 'Some activities of the government are being carried out in a way that seems vindictive. It is working in a way that instills fear. The issue was raised yesterday. First arrest, then listen. I don't think so. First arrest, then see what happens. The government is heading towards that destiny. Therefore, a serious question has arisen regarding good governance. Does good governance not apply to the ruling party? Should not the head of government, those in the government, those in this parliament be transparent and accountable? Is accountability to be imposed only on others?'

MP Hamal also stated that the government seems to be operating at someone's behest.
