Kathmandu Metropolitan City to Determine Rent and Business Tax Rates Based on Purpose and Location

Kathmandu. Kathmandu Metropolitan City is arranging to determine the rates of rent and business tax to be collected by it based on purpose and special area of location to make it scientific, justifiable and taxpayer-friendly. This has been mentioned in the policy and program for the fiscal year 2083/084.

‘Taxpayers who have not come into the tax net will be identified and motivated to pay tax, appropriate discounts will be provided, and information, knowledge related to revenue services and the metropolis's message will be communicated to taxpayers via SMS,’ it is stated in the policy and program, ‘Necessary arrangements will be made to implement the local level revenue management system (Sutra) prepared by the Office of the Comptroller General of Accounts. The integrated taxpayer identification number will be fully implemented. A system will be put in place for mandatory registration of rented-out and rented-in houses, land, and other structures and properties.’
