US-Iran Deal Nears Finalization, Details Emerge

Tehran. Iranian state news agency IRNA claims that the Memorandum of Understanding being prepared between America and Iran has reached its final stage. 

IRNA, Mehr News Agency, and other Iranian media outlets have released some key details about the draft, which is said to be based on Iran's 14-point proposal.

Ceasefire Arrangement
According to the draft, arrangements are included to end not only the war with Iran but also conflicts on fronts including Lebanon. It is mentioned that if an agreement is reached, America will commit to pressuring Israel to stop military action in the Beirut region.

Nuclear Program
It is stated that Iran will not make any new commitments regarding its nuclear program for the time being. Iran will participate in nuclear talks within the limits of its “fundamental principles” only during the 60-day negotiation period that will begin after the agreement. This is claimed to include maintaining Iran's right to uranium enrichment.

Strait of Hormuz
According to Iranian media, Iran has not made any commitment to relinquish management rights of the Strait of Hormuz or to fully restore the pre-war situation. The draft is said to only include making maritime transport normal and ending the American blockade on Iranian ports. It is stated that the management of the Strait will be through regional coordination among coastal nations only, with no direct role for America.

Release of Frozen Assets

The agreement includes a demand for the release of Iran's frozen assets worth 24 billion US dollars abroad. IRNA claims that half of this amount should be made available immediately after the signing of the agreement.

Lifting of Sanctions

The issue of lifting all economic and other sanctions imposed on Iran will be addressed within 60 days. It is said that during that period, America will also commit not to send additional military forces to the Middle East and not to impose new sanctions on Iran.

War Reparations

According to Mehr News Agency, the draft includes a plan of at least 300 billion US dollars for Iran's reconstruction. The implementation process for this will be determined in the 60-day negotiations after the signing.

Missiles and Regional Groups

Mehr claims that Iran's ballistic missile program and Iran-backed regional armed groups (proxy forces) have been completely removed from the draft.

However, Iran's Tasnim News Agency reported that the text of the agreement is still pending review and final approval by the relevant Iranian bodies.
