Parliamentarians Raise Concerns on Road Safety, Disaster Preparedness, Fertilizer Shortage, and Earthquake Victim Support

Kathmandu. Rashtriya Swatantra Party (RSP) MP Tosima Karki has drawn the government's attention to road safety, stating that an average of eight Nepalis die daily in road accidents.

During a special session of the House of Representatives, MP Karki expressed sorrow over the death of 24,095 Nepalis in the last 10 years and urged the government to ensure road safety. She demanded that the Road Safety Bill be advanced to make road transport safer. She also called for an integrated trauma policy and the operation of trauma centers in all seven provinces.

Nepali Congress MP Arjunnarsingh KC drew the government's attention to disaster risk preparedness as the monsoon is about to begin. He urged the current government to prepare now, as work is often rushed when problems arise. MP KC emphasized the need for coordination and cooperation between local, provincial, and central governments for a disaster early warning system.

Nepal Communist Party (UML) MP Padma Aryal drew the government's attention to the immediate supply of fertilizer as it is the planting season across the country. She stressed that farmers are struggling to find fertilizer despite it being the farming season, and that fields should not be left barren due to a lack of fertilizer.

MP Aryal stated that the government should pay attention to the potential decrease in food production in the coming days due to the lack of fertilizer supply. She also highlighted the serious situation where citizens are struggling to make ends meet due to price hikes and urged the government to focus on controlling inflation and monitoring the market.

MP Gopal Sharma drew the government's attention to the fact that the state has not paid attention to citizens affected by the earthquake in districts like Rukum-Paschim, Jajarkot, Doti, and Dailekh in 2080 BS, even after three years. He demanded that the government immediately facilitate the construction of housing for earthquake victims.
