MP Toshima Karki Demands Immediate National Trauma Policy

Kathmandu.  Ruling party Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) MP Dr. Toshima Karki has demanded that the government immediately formulate a National Trauma Policy.  

Speaking in a special time during the House of Representatives meeting on Thursday, she made the demand. MP Karki stated that the government should formulate and immediately implement the policy to address the suffering of many citizens losing their lives due to road accidents.  

She also mentioned that if the government builds roads but cannot save citizens from road accidents, it will be a failure both morally and ethically.

MP Karki said, ‘The state collects taxes, builds roads, but if it cannot save its citizens from dying on the roads, it is not just an administrative weakness, it will be the moral and policy defeat of the state.’  

She further added, ‘What the previous governments did, how they did it? We don't know where they failed, but the Nepali people have great hopes from this government, from us. If files get stuck again, if directives are shelved, we have no excuse to evade responsibility. Therefore, we must be able to tell the Nepali people, you have taken the COVID vaccine, but this government will provide, we will provide, the policy vaccine to stop the daily undeclared epidemic happening on the roads. We must be able to say this. Therefore, I request – if we start formulating the National Trauma Policy from today, we can save many future accidents and many lives.’

MP Karki also emphasized that the current government has no excuse to evade the hopes and trust of the citizens.
