Chinese Actor Hou Xiang's Youthful Appearance Sparks Online Discussion

Beijing. The youthful appearance of Chinese actor Hou Xiang, resembling his childhood, has recently become a topic of much discussion in China. 

This discussion began after a photo of the 40-year-old actor and his bride went viral on social media many years after their marriage. 

Although some people mocked them, saying they looked more like a mother and son than a husband and wife, Hou has not let such criticism overwhelm him. After all, he has faced similar comments for most of his life. 

According to Chinese media, Hou Xiang's mother suffered from malnutrition during pregnancy, which caused Hou to be born prematurely. He always appeared smaller than his peers, but around the age of 9, his physical development completely stopped. He was then limited to an appearance that made him look like a small child for the rest of his life. 

For most of his adult life, people mistook Hou Xiang for a boy in his adolescence and asked questions like, 'Where do you study?' But he did not let this hinder his ambitions and desire to achieve something in life. 

With the full support of his family, he pursued his acting career and got a big break in 2005, playing the role of a primary school student in the hit sitcom 'Home with Kids'. He was 19 years old at the time. 

In the following years, Hou acted in popular dramas such as 'Stepfather', 'Chuang Guandong', and 'Tunnel Warfare', where he played various young characters. Directors praised his acting skills and his ability to follow directions literally, which is difficult for young children. 

The 40-year-old actor has admitted that the roles he gets are quite limited due to his childlike appearance and childlike voice. However, he stated that he always strives to make the best of the roles offered to him. 

Hou said, 'It is not easy for me to find scripts and roles that I truly like. I hope I can do full justice to every role within this scope, which is also a kind of success for an actor.' 

Hou has always led a peaceful and stable life with his wife. He prefers to focus only on his family and acting rather than getting caught up in fame and media attention.
