Former President Bhandari Calls for Unity for Democracy and Prosperity

Kathmandu. Former President Bidya Devi Bhandari has stated that everyone must unite to achieve the goals of democracy, national unity, good governance, and a prosperous Nepal by embracing the core principles of people's multi-party democracy.

Addressing the 33rd memorial assembly of Madan-Ashrit held by CPN-UML in Balkhu, Kathmandu on Sunday, former President Bhandari, who is also the wife of Madan, urged UML leaders and cadres to consider the memorial day not just as a formal program but as an opportunity for ideological renaissance and a new resolve.

'The dream of an egalitarian, prosperous, and self-reliant Nepal envisioned by leaders Madan Bhandari and Jivraj Ashrit is yet to be fulfilled,' said former President Bhandari. Bhandari stated that true tribute to leaders Bhandari and Ashrit would be paid only by translating their ideas, ideals, and people-oriented political culture into practice.

Stating that the people's trust is the greatest strength of any political power, Bhandari said that if the distance between the party and the people increases, the essence of the political movement will weaken, and therefore, the feelings, expectations, and problems of the people must be understood closely.

'We must be actively engaged in establishing the belief that politics is a campaign for public service and social transformation,' said former President Bhandari.
