Worker Dies on Rajinikanth's 'Jailer 2' Set Due to Electric Shock

Chennai. A worker has died due to electric shock on the set of South Indian superstar Rajinikanth's upcoming film 'Jailer 2'. The accident happened on the set at Aditya Ram Film City in Panaiyur on the East Coast Road in Chennai. 

According to a PTI report, the deceased has been identified as 28-year-old Karthikeyan. This accident occurred at the shooting location in Panaiyur. According to reports, Karthikeyan received an electric shock while working on creating a house-like set for the film's shooting. He died thereafter.

According to the police, Karthikeyan was involved in art direction work. The Kanathur police stated that no FIR has been registered in this incident. The police are investigating the cause of the electrical short circuit.

'Jailer-2' Filming Completed

This incident occurred a few days after the production company Sun Pictures announced the completion of the film's shooting. On April 21, the producers shared pictures from a wrap-up party on social media. In this, Rajinikanth and director Nelson were seen cutting a cake with the artists and crew.

Rajinikanth had earlier told the media that the film would be released on June 12. A recent report by Pinkvilla has stated that the film's release date may change. The film is expected to be released on September 4, 2026, on the occasion of Krishna Janmashtami.

The film is a sequel to the 2023 blockbuster Jailer. Ramya Krishnan, Yogi Babu, and Mirna will return in their old roles. In the first part of the film, Mohanlal, Shivarajkumar, and Jackie Shroff played cameo roles. Vinayakan, Vasanth Ravi, Tamannaah Bhatia, and Sunil also appeared in important roles.

According to Sacnilk, Jailer, made on a budget of approximately ₹200 crore, grossed ₹604.50 crore worldwide.
