During the historic talks held during US President Donald Trump's visit to China, Xi announced that the relationship between the two countries has entered a new phase based on constructive strategic stability. According to the details released by China's Ministry of Foreign Affairs, both leaders agreed to build a new direction for bilateral relations for the next three years and beyond as a constructive strategic stable relationship. This terminology is considered to have been used formally for the first time. According to analysts, this indicates an attempt to shift the US-China relationship, which has become tense and uncertain in recent years, towards more organized, predictable, and controlled competition and cooperation. Xi said, 'Constructive strategic stability should primarily be positive stability based on cooperation, a mild stability with competition within rules, a general stability with manageable differences, and a long-term stability with predictable peace.' He added, 'This is not just a slogan. Both sides must take practical steps towards the same goal.' Trump met Xi in Beijing on Thursday. This meeting took place on Thursday after the representatives of the two leaders discussed with each other in South Korea on Wednesday. So far, the US side has not officially released details about the meeting. However, this dialogue is being seen as an attempt to improve relations amidst growing competition on issues such as trade, technology, security, the Taiwan issue, and Middle East tensions.
