Nepal Telecom Modifies International Outgoing Call Pulse Duration

Kathmandu. Nepal Telecom has revised the pulse duration for international outgoing calls from its phone and mobile services. According to a press release issued by Telecom, a pulse rate of 60 seconds will now be applicable for calls to 58 different countries. Telecom has stated that this new arrangement will be effective from tomorrow, i.e., Jestha 1, 2083 BS. Telecom has made this revision in accordance with the approval received as per the decision of the Nepal Telecommunications Authority dated Falgun 1, 2082 BS. Now, when customers make calls to the specified countries using international access codes 00, 1424, 1425, or 1445, each 60 seconds will be counted as one pulse. Previously, there was a different pulse rate, but now the charging will be based on a one-minute basis. The countries where the new pulse rate will be applicable include major destinations such as India, China, Saudi Arabia, South Korea, Singapore, Thailand, Malaysia, United Arab Emirates, and America. Similarly, this rate will also apply to calls to Anguilla, Algeria, American Samoa, Azerbaijan, Bahamas, Benin, Brazil, Brunei, Comoros, Cook Islands, Diego Garcia, East Timor, Ethiopia, Fiji, French Polynesia, Guam, Guinea, Guinea-Bissau, Haiti, Indonesia, Ivory Coast, Kiribati, Lesotho, Liberia, Macau, Maldives, Mali, Mexico, Micronesia, Mozambique, and Myanmar. Co-spokesperson Prakshet Thapa Chhetri informed that a 60-second pulse rate will also be applicable for calls to Nauru, New Caledonia, New Zealand, Nigeria, Niue, Palau, Panama, Papua New Guinea, Samoa, Solomon Islands, South Africa, Sri Lanka, Sudan, Suriname, Togo, Tokelau, Tonga, Turkey, Tuvalu, Vanuatu, and Vietnam. Nepal Telecom currently has arrangements for various access codes for making calls to telecommunication service providers in different countries. When making a call, customers will have to dial the access code first, followed by the country code, and finally the service provider's number.
