At Least 39 Killed in Israeli Airstrikes in Lebanon

Beirut. At least 39 people have been killed in a series of recent airstrikes by the Israeli army in Lebanon. 

According to the Lebanese Ministry of Health, seven people, including a girl, died in the fierce attack in the southern city of Saksakiyeh.

BBC has mentioned that 15 more people were injured in the attack in Saksakiyeh.  Three of them are children.

The Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) have claimed that they targeted the military structure of the armed group Hezbollah. However, the IDF has stated that they are aware of the reports of civilian casualties and are reviewing them.

Although US President Donald Trump announced a ceasefire agreement between Israel and the Lebanese government on April 16, violence has not stopped between the two sides. The Israeli army has been continuously bombing southern Lebanon, claiming to destroy Hezbollah's infrastructure.

According to the Ministry of Health, an Israeli drone targeted a Syrian citizen and his 12-year-old daughter riding a motorcycle in Nabatieh. The ministry mentioned that the father was killed when the drone attacked a second time while trying to escape the first attack, and the daughter was seriously injured by a third strike. The girl is currently undergoing treatment at the hospital.

Meanwhile, Hezbollah has also carried out a drone attack in northern Israel. The Israeli army has confirmed that three Israeli soldiers were injured in the attack. Israel currently occupies 10 kilometers of territory in the southern Lebanon border area, due to which many villages have been completely destroyed.

According to the Ministry of Health, 2,795 people have died in Lebanon since the recent conflict began on March 2. More than 120 Lebanese have lost their lives in the last week alone. The Israeli side has stated that 17 of their soldiers and some civilians have been killed.
