Singer Ramkrishna Dhakal Involved in Controversy Over Ravi Lamichhane's Escape

Kathmandu. Singer and film producer Ramkrishna Dhakal has been embroiled in controversy. He got into trouble after saying during an interview on a show that he had put Rabi Lamichhane, chairman of the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP), who was in Nakhkhu jail on charges of cooperative fraud during the Janji movement, in his own car and sped away.

During the promotion of his film 'Malati Mangale' which is set to be released on the 25th, he revealed that Rabi escaped in his car and that the driver was also with him.

During the interview, in the segment where the host asks how Dhakal is remembered, a video is shown of RSP chairman Lamichhane breaking out of Nakhkhu prison on August 24th and speeding away in a blue car with his entourage, waving. After watching the video, Dhakal says that he himself was driving that car.

He says that since he lives in Bhaisipati, he happened to go near the jail while roaming around during the Janji movement, and when he met Rabi waving at a restaurant outside the jail, he took the risk to give him a ride. He said that he was also the driver of the car at that time.

At that time, there was a widespread rumor that singer Ramkrishna Dhakal's car had taken Rabi Lamichhane away. But the driver's side of the story had not come out. The faces of the drivers were not shown in the public videos at that time. But now Dhakal himself has brought that out.
