Bagmati Province Wins Second National Baseball Fives Championship

Kathmandu. Bagmati Province has won the title of the second National Baseball Fives Championship held in the capital. Bagmati captured the gold medal by defeating Sudurpaschim Province by a wide margin of 14-8 in the exciting final clash held on Sunday.

While Sudurpaschim remained the runner-up in the competition, Lumbini Province secured the third position. Along with the title, Bagmati received a cash prize of 30,000 rupees and a trophy. Similarly, the second-placed Sudurpaschim received 20,000 rupees and the third-placed Lumbini received 10,000 rupees. Koshi Province, which came fourth, received a consolation prize of 10,000 rupees, which was personally sponsored by Sunita Thapa, a member of the association.

Dipesh Majhi, who played a decisive role in making Bagmati Province the champion, was declared the 'Best Player' of the competition. He attracted everyone's attention with his balanced and aggressive performance throughout the game.

According to Surendra Thapaliya, Vice-President of the Baseball and Softball Association of Nepal and Coordinator of the Organizing Committee, a total of 8 teams, including seven provinces and one university, competed in this year's championship.

Rajeeb Shrestha, Secretary General of the Nepal Olympic Committee, distributed the prizes to the winning teams and players. The program was attended by the President of the Nepal Basketball Association, Bhim Singh Gurung, and the President of the Baseball Softball Association, Deepak Neupane, among others.

Nisan Maharjan, Secretariat Chief of the Ministry of Education and Sports, and other distinguished individuals visited the field to encourage the players during the game.
