Man Arrested for Allegedly Killing Father in Rupa Rural Municipality

Pokhara. Police have arrested one person on the charge of murdering his own father in Rupa Rural Municipality of Kaski. The arrested is 34-year-old Bhim Bahadur Bhujel of Bagedanda, Rupa Rural Municipality 4. Police have accused him of murdering his own 62-year-old father, Rambahadur Gharti.

On the evening of Baisakh 17, around 6:45 PM, Gharti was found unconscious in his room, Kaski Police informed. Locals informed the police after seeing a 'galbandi' (a type of scarf or shawl) tied around his neck and blood flowing from his nose.

During the preliminary investigation, after seeing the 'galbandi' tied around the deceased's neck and blood flowing from his nose, police suspected foul play and arrested the son.

 "Since the room door was open, the incident appeared suspicious. As the investigation progressed, the involvement of the deceased's youngest son, Bhim Bahadur Bhujel, was found, leading to his arrest," said Kaski Police Spokesperson DSP Haribahadur Basnet.

During the search, police arrested Bhim on Baisakh 18 from Hospital Chowk, Pokhara Metropolitan City 11. Basnet informed that a 10-day remand has been extended from Kaski District Court against him for investigation related to the offense of causing death.
