President Consults Legal Experts on Ordinances

Kathmandu. President Ram Chandra Paudel has consulted with constitutional and legal experts regarding the ordinances recommended by the government.

On Thursday, at the President's Office, Shital Niwas, the President inquired with constitutional and legal experts, 'The government has sent a large number of ordinances at once, and some that were previously withdrawn have also come. What would be appropriate in this context?' According to sources, the President showed the most curiosity about the ordinance related to the Constitutional Council.

In response, the constitutional experts have suggested doing whatever is appropriate according to the constitution and law. Senior Advocate Tikaram Bhattarai, who participated in the discussion, said that he suggested taking steps within the constitutional limits.

'It is appropriate to take steps within the constitutional limits in a way that protects the constitution,' Bhattarai told RatoPati, quoting the suggestion they gave to the President. 'It is appropriate to reach a conclusion only after discussing with all stakeholders, including the Prime Minister.'

Legal experts Badri Bahadur Karki, Mahadev Yadav, Purnaman Shakya, Bhimार्जुन Acharya, and Tikaram Bhattarai participated in the discussion with the President.

Although the government had recommended 6 ordinances, including one for the Constitutional Council, a few days ago, and the ordinance related to cooperatives and the Public Procurement (Second Amendment) Ordinance were issued on Thursday, other ordinances have not been issued.
