Food Technician Accused of Bribery in Nepal

Kathmandu. The Commission for Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) has filed a corruption case against Technical Assistant Sanjay Chaudhary, who was working at the Department of Food Technology and Quality Control, Babar Mahal, at the Special Court.

The commission filed the charge sheet against him on Thursday after it was confirmed that he had demanded a bribe of Rs 30,000 from a service recipient for the purpose of renewing a food industry.

According to Suresh Neupane, spokesperson for the commission, Chaudhary had been harassing service recipients with various pretexts for the industry renewal work and bargaining for a bribe.

Acting on information, a CIAA team deployed from Tangal apprehended him red-handed while he was receiving Rs 30,000 from the service recipient.

During the investigation, it was confirmed that Chaudhary had committed an offense in accordance with the Prevention of Corruption Act, 2059 BS. The commission has filed a case at the Special Court, Kathmandu, demanding a penalty equal to the bribe amount of Rs 30,000 and imprisonment.
