Senior Police Officer Honored for Excellence Arrested for Bribery

Pokhara. Kaski Police honored Senior Police Head Constable Bishnu Thapa Chhetri as the best police officer for the work done in the month of Poush, 2081 BS. He was honored for his excellent work in the investigation of various cooperative fraud cases, organized crime, and money laundering as he is stationed at the Kaski Police's Criminal Investigation Branch. He was honored for performing his official duties with honesty, loyalty, diligence, and high professional acumen, thereby upholding the image of the police. The same police head constable was arrested on Saturday evening with a bribe. He was offered 50,000 by a service recipient on Saturday, promising to help settle a drug-related case. According to sources, Thapa had negotiated for 300,000. He was caught red-handed with the same amount by the Commission for Investigation of Abuse of Authority. He is working in the case section of the District Police Office, Kaski. Service recipients have accused Head Constable Thapa of harassing them repeatedly. He is accused of hiding files and bargaining with service recipients. Complaints have been filed against him from the CIAA, National Vigilance Center, Chief Minister's Office, and even the Prime Minister's Office. He was on deputation in Kaski despite his permanent posting being at the Arun Khola Police Post, relying on his influence. Moreover, he has been working in the case section for a long time. The CIAA office in Pokhara stated that further investigation is underway against Thapa.
