RPP is a party for monarchists, not the King's party: Rajendra Lingden

Kathmandu. Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) Chairman Rajendra Lingden has stated that the RPP is not the King's party, but a party for those who believe in the monarchy.

Addressing the Gandaki Province-level program held in Tanahun on Saturday as part of the provincial election review organized by the party's central secretariat, Chairman Lingden described the RPP as a party with a conservative philosophy. Stating that the King and the monarchy do not belong to any party, he added that the monarchy itself does not have a party. He emphasized that the monarchy stands above any party, organization, or ideology. He noted that those who propagate the idea that the RPP is the King's party and attempt to create controversy are not true supporters of the monarchy.

Addressing comments from some monarchists who claimed it was a mistake for the RPP to participate in the elections following the former King's address before the election on Falgun 21, Chairman Lingden responded to the criticism.

'What would have happened if the RPP had not participated in the election?' Chairman Lingden asked rhetorically. 'What would be the state of the current political landscape and the strength of the pro-monarchy forces in the parliamentary forum if the RPP had not participated? Do those who call themselves monarchists want the RPP to cease to exist? Is it not because of the RPP that the agenda of the monarchy is resonating in Parliament?'

Speaking on the ongoing internal party disputes, Lingden clarified that while he had tried to keep everyone united before the election, some leaders and workers mistook his efforts for weakness and acted against party discipline. He stated that he has now begun taking disciplinary action.
