Writ Petition Filed Against Eviction of Squatter Settlements in Kathmandu

Kathmandu. A writ petition has been filed in the Supreme Court against the move to clear settlements built along various riverbanks and public spaces in Kathmandu. Supreme Court spokesperson Arjun Prasad Koirala confirmed that 11 individuals, including Gopal Ranpahili, filed the petition against the eviction of squatters. 

The District Administration Office and Kathmandu Metropolitan City have already issued a notice to clear the squatter settlements along the riverbanks of Kathmandu by 7:00 PM today. The writ petition demands that no family should be removed, evicted, displaced, or subjected to any form of forced action without the identification, verification, and provision of alternative arrangements for landless families living in squatter settlements along riverbanks or any other locations across the Kathmandu Valley and the entire country.
