Couple critically injured in rhino attack in Chitwan

Chitwan. Two members of the same family were critically injured in a rhinoceros attack in Bharatpur Metropolitan City-28, Chitwan. The couple was attacked by the rhino at around 6:30 AM on Sunday while they were collecting fodder in the Bardaha Buffer Zone Community Forest.

The injured have been identified as 43-year-old Yubaraj Mahato and his 36-year-old wife, Rikumaya Mahato. They were attacked by the rhino that suddenly emerged while they were working in the forest. 

Following the incident, they were rescued and brought to the government hospital in Bharatpur at 8:45 AM for treatment. According to the hospital, Yubaraj Mahato is in critical condition, having sustained deep injuries to his face, abdomen, chest, and legs. His wife, Rikumaya, sustained an injury to her left arm and is in moderate condition, police stated.  

Upon receiving information about the incident, a team led by Assistant Sub-Inspector of Police Navaraj Joshi from the Area Police Office, Dibyanagar, was deployed to the scene. The incident site is located approximately 8 kilometers west of the Dibyanagar Police Office.
