Nepal experiences mixed weather patterns with rain, snow, and rising heat

Kathmandu. Nepal's weather is currently influenced by westerly and local winds, alongside a low-pressure system near eastern Nepal. The Department of Hydrology and Meteorology, Weather Forecasting Division, reports that this system has caused cloud cover, rainfall, and snowfall in various parts of the country.

Currently, the hilly and mountainous regions of Koshi, Bagmati, and Gandaki provinces are experiencing generally cloudy conditions. Partial cloud cover is also observed in the hilly and Terai regions of Sudurpashchim and the Terai belt of Koshi.

At present, light to moderate rain accompanied by thunder and lightning, along with snowfall, is occurring in a few places in the hilly and mountainous areas of Koshi, Bagmati, and Gandaki provinces. The weather remains generally clear in other parts of the country.

Monday's forecast indicates that cloudy conditions will persist in Koshi province and other hilly and mountainous regions. Partial cloud cover is also expected in the Terai plains.

There is a possibility of light rain and snowfall, accompanied by thunder and lightning, in one or two places in the hilly and mountainous regions of Koshi and Gandaki, as well as the hilly terrain of Bagmati and Lumbini provinces.

While rain is expected in the hills, rising temperatures are likely to affect daily life in the Terai and valley regions. Hot weather conditions are anticipated in the Terai districts, valleys, and basins of Madhesh, Bagmati, Gandaki, Lumbini, and Sudurpashchim provinces.

Meteorologists have advised residents in these areas to take necessary precautions due to the rising temperatures and the potential for heatwaves.
