Planning Boys United to Face Gachhiya Youth Society in Itahari Gold Cup Final

Sunsari. The final of the 16th International Invitational Itahari Gold Cup football tournament will feature a showdown between Planning Boys United and Gachhiya Youth Society, Morang.

In the second semifinal held at Itahari Stadium on Saturday night, Planning Boys secured their spot in the final by defeating Satdobato Youth Club, Lalitpur, with a commanding 6-1 victory. Previously, in the first semifinal held on Friday, Gachhiya Youth Society had already confirmed their place in the title clash by defeating the defending champions, Machhindra Football Club.

Captain Faguram Tharu emerged as the hero for Planning Boys, scoring four individual goals, including a hat-trick, to lead his team to a dominant win. Roman Bhujel and Pratap Singh Rai also added one goal each.

Roman Bhujel gave Planning Boys an early lead in the fourth minute with a direct goal from a corner kick. Captain Faguram Tharu doubled the lead in the 28th minute. Four minutes later, he scored his second goal of the match, putting the team in a comfortable 3-0 position by halftime.

Although Satdobato's Sakal Regmi scored a goal in the opening minutes of the second half, it was not enough to change the course of the game. Faguram completed his hat-trick in the 19th minute of the second half and added his fourth goal just four minutes later. Pratap Singh Rai added another goal in the 33rd minute of the second half, sealing a spectacular 6-1 victory for Planning Boys.

Faguram Tharu, who delivered an outstanding performance, was declared Player of the Match. He was awarded a cash prize of 10,000 rupees by Tej Bahadur Puri, President of the District Hotel and Tourism Entrepreneurs Association, Sunsari.
The tournament, organized by the Rastriya Jagriti Club, will award 1 million rupees to the winner and 500,000 rupees to the runner-up.
