Over 1,700 Drivers Penalized for Traffic Violations in Kathmandu Valley

Kathmandu. In the past twenty-four hours, 1,719 drivers have been penalized for failing to comply with traffic regulations.

According to the Kathmandu Valley Traffic Police Office, action was taken against 113 drivers for driving under the influence, 35 for operating vehicles in poor mechanical condition, 102 for traffic signal violations, 93 for speeding, 179 for lane discipline violations, and 38 for operating public transport vehicles in an unsafe manner.

Similarly, 46 drivers were penalized for unnecessary honking, 20 for picking up or dropping off passengers in unauthorized areas, and 1,093 for other traffic rule violations.

The office stated that a total of Rs 1,184,500 in revenue has been deposited into the state treasury from these traffic penalties.
