At least 7 dead, 2 missing in Ghana boat accident

Ghana. At least 7 people have died and 2 remain missing following a boat accident in the northern region of Ghana. According to the Ghana Maritime Authority, the incident occurred on Wednesday in the Volta Lake region.

There were a total of 14 passengers on board the boat. It is reported that the boat capsized due to sudden bad weather during the journey. Immediately after the incident, rescue and search operations were launched, in which 5 men were rescued alive.

However, officials suspect that 9 people had drowned. So far, 7 bodies have been recovered, including 2 women and 5 children.

A team of divers from the Ghana Navy and the Maritime Authority is continuing the search for the 2 missing individuals—a woman and a child. An investigation is also underway to determine the exact cause of the incident.
