Lawyers Granted Access to Singha Durbar Using Bar Association ID Cards

Kathmandu. Arrangements have been made to allow legal practitioners to enter Singha Durbar based on the identity cards issued by the Nepal Bar Association.

Following strict restrictions on entry into Singha Durbar, the Nepal Bar Association wrote a letter to Prime Minister Balendra Shah on Wednesday to draw his attention to the matter.

Nepal Bar President Dr. Bijay Prasad Mishra stated that he was informed by the police chief responsible for Singha Durbar security on Friday that the previous system allowing unrestricted entry would be restored.

The government has backtracked on its decision, now allowing legal practitioners to enter Singha Durbar based on the identity cards provided by the Nepal Bar Association and the Bar Council.

Previously, the government had issued a mandatory notice requiring legal practitioners to obtain a separate entry pass to enter Singha Durbar. Following that notice, entry for legal practitioners into Singha Durbar had been restricted since last Sunday.
