Mahabir Pun Urges Government and Political Parties to Eliminate Nepotism and Cronyism

Kathmandu. Member of the House of Representatives, Mahabir Pun, has stated that the government, political parties, and lawmakers must free themselves from the viruses of nepotism, favoritism, sycophancy, and patronage that have taken deep root in Nepal. 

During the special session of the House of Representatives on Wednesday, Pun remarked that these viruses have been entrenched in Nepal since its history. He noted that this trend began during the administration of Ran Bahadur Shah's childhood following the unification of Nepal. 

Pun stated that even after the end of the Rana regime, the advent of democracy, and the establishment of the republic, this distortion has continued in various forms. 

Asserting that such distortions have seriously hindered the country's development and good governance, Pun expressed the view that they must be ended immediately.

He emphasized that the government, political party leaders, and lawmakers must rise above personal interests to provide opportunities to impartial and qualified individuals. He maintained that only by doing so can sustainable development and good governance be established in the country.
