Agricultural Produce Collection Center and Cold Storage Facility Opens in Bajura

Bajura. An agricultural produce collection center has come into operation in Kolti, located in the northeastern part of the district within Budhiganga Municipality.

According to Santosh Kumar Sah, the acting chief administrative officer of the municipality, the center, which includes a cold storage facility, has been established in Kolti Bazaar, Ward No. 2 of Budhiganga, to facilitate the sale of vegetables and fruits produced by local farmers, including during off-seasons.

He stated that the center was built to alleviate the difficulties faced by farmers who previously had to visit individual hotels and shops to sell their produce, such as greens, potatoes, and cauliflower.

Mayor Janak Kumar Bohara informed that the facility was constructed through a financial partnership between the municipality and GIZ. According to him, the center was built with a joint investment of 6,891,880 rupees and 54 paisa.

Mayor Bohara noted that the agricultural produce center and cold storage facility will be used to store potatoes, apples, oranges, and other crops produced by farmers.

The mayor added that vegetables and fruits stored in the cold storage facility can be sold and distributed at other times as well. The facility was inaugurated by Bir Bahadur Thapa, the Minister of Land Management, Agriculture, and Cooperatives of Sudurpashchim Province.

The minister had arrived in Kolti to discuss sheep and goat farming in the high Himalayan region with stakeholders from four municipalities in the northern area.
