Four arrested in Kathmandu for foreign employment fraud

Kathmandu. Police arrested 4 individuals on Thursday on charges of defrauding people by promising them lucrative jobs abroad.

The arrested individuals are 52-year-old Karna Bahadur Raut, originally from Salyan Kalimati Rural Municipality-7 and currently residing in Butwal Sub-Metropolitan City-2, Rupandehi; 42-year-old Ananda Thapa, originally from Tanahun Bhanu Municipality-12 and currently residing in Kathmandu Nagarjun Municipality-9; 39-year-old Radhika Pathak Paudel, originally from Nawalparasi East Kawasoti Municipality-3; and 47-year-old Tilak Pariyar, originally from Morang Sundarharaicha Municipality-3 and currently residing in Kathmandu Metropolitan City-31.  

Based on complaints from victims, Karna Bahadur allegedly took 5.7 million rupees from 11 victims promising to send them to Finland, Ananda took 450,000 rupees from one victim for Malta, Radhika took 420,000 rupees from two victims for Finland, and Tilak took 800,000 rupees from two victims for Serbia before going out of contact. Police from the Kathmandu Valley Crime Investigation Office, Teku, arrested Karna Bahadur from Kathmandu Metropolitan City-11, Ananda from Kathmandu Metropolitan City-26, Radhika from Kathmandu Metropolitan City-12, and Tilak from Kathmandu Metropolitan City-29.

They have been sent to the Department of Foreign Employment in Tahachal, Kathmandu, for further investigation and legal action.
