Nepali Congress Leader Arjun Narsingh KC Rejects 'Father-in-law' Label as Political Attack

Kathmandu. Nepali Congress leader and proportional representative MP Arjun Narsingh KC has alleged that attempts are being made to attack him and party General Secretary Gagan Kumar Thapa by labeling them as father-in-law and son-in-law. He stated that comments suggesting he received opportunities solely because he is the father-in-law of General Secretary Thapa do not affect him.

He claims that his political life began when he was imprisoned for distributing pamphlets against the 'coup' staged by King Mahendra on 2017 Poush 1, and that he has a distinct identity in party politics. He remarked that those who are unaware of his contributions to party building and the institutionalization of democracy identify him only as Thapa's father-in-law, and he feels no need to respond to them.

He described the criticisms linking his name to General Secretary Thapa as a pre-planned conspiracy, comparing it to the 'business of holes' in Pashupati darshan. He expressed strong objection to attempts from within the Nepali Congress to limit his identity solely to being Gagan Thapa's father-in-law.

Citing the examples of former Prime Minister Girija Prasad Koirala, leader Shailaja Acharya, and former Prime Minister Sushil Koirala, KC argued that many leaders in the party earned their roles based on their own contributions, and it is inappropriate to criticize them based solely on family relationships.

He urged journalists to do him justice by informing everyone about his contributions to party building and the restoration of the system. He also claimed that he stands in favor of a special convention because he advocates for transformation and generational change. He stated that those who do not want to see the Congress change are trying to attack General Secretary Thapa through him, but it will not make any difference.
