Hetauda Cement Industry Resumes Production After Technical Repairs

Makwanpur. The management of Hetauda Cement Industry has announced that cement production has resumed today following the repair of equipment in the kiln that had caused a temporary halt.

The industry had resumed production on Chaitra 14 after a hiatus of approximately seven months. However, the kiln (coal mill) had to be shut down the following day, on Chaitra 15, due to a technical failure.

Coal was transported to the mill last night, and the kiln was ignited. Clinker production, essential for cement manufacturing, has officially restarted today.

To ensure consistent production, the industry has stocked enough coal for the next two months. Assistant Manager of the Administration Division, Bikash Shrestha, stated that a tender has already been called for the procurement of additional coal.

According to Shrestha, financial constraints have frequently hindered production due to difficulties in purchasing raw materials. While the industry's original capacity is 18,000 bags per day, aging equipment has limited current output to 11,000 bags daily.

The Hetauda Cement Industry was established by the then-government in 2033 BS at Lamsure, Hetauda. On Mangsir 26, 2043 BS, the late King Birendra Bir Bikram Shah inaugurated the commercial production of cement from the facility.

The government invested approximately 1.5 billion rupees in the construction of the industry. Cement produced here is distributed to cities including Kathmandu, Nepalgunj, Pokhara, Hetauda, and Birgunj.
