Over 7.3 Million People in China Voluntarily Register as Organ Donors, Official Data Shows

China. The China Organ Donation Administration Center announced that the number of people voluntarily registering as organ donors in China has exceeded 7.3 million.

According to the center, post-mortem organ donation has been carried out by approximately more than 65,000 individuals to date. This has saved the lives of over 200,000 patients and restored the vision of more than 100,000 people.

Furthermore, it is reported that more than 69,000 full-body donations have also been completed in China. More than 380 memorial sites have been established across China in honor of organ donors. Special events are organized at these locations every year during the Qingming Festival to commemorate the organ donors.

China launched a pilot program for post-mortem organ donation in 2010, and it was expanded nationwide starting in 2013.
