Pakistan Mediating Between Iran and US Amid Rising Tensions, Says Foreign Minister

Islamabad. News has emerged that Pakistan is mediating between Iran and the US amidst growing tensions between the two nations. Pakistani Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar stated that both Iran and the US have expressed confidence in the facilitation that Pakistan will provide for talks.

He mentioned that Pakistan feels honored to be able to organize and facilitate meaningful dialogue between both sides in the coming days. Neither Iran nor the US has officially confirmed their participation in the talks.

This statement came after a meeting in Islamabad between the foreign ministers of Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, Turkey, and Egypt. It was reported that the meeting discussed ways to bring a swift and permanent end to regional conflicts.

Dar also expressed gratitude to Saudi Arabia, Turkey, and Egypt for their cooperation in the peace efforts. Furthermore, he stated that he had spoken with Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi and the Secretary-General of the United Nations, both of whom expressed support for the peace initiative. 

Previously, in a separate statement issued after a meeting between the Prime Minister of Pakistan and the Foreign Minister of Saudi Arabia, Pakistan had committed to always standing shoulder-to-shoulder with Saudi Arabia. Pakistan also praised the remarkable restraint shown by Saudi Arabia amidst regional tensions.
