Mayor Balen Shah Forms 15-Member Cabinet with Majority Representation from Bagmati Province

Kathmandu. Mayor Balendra Shah (Balen) has formed a 15-member cabinet. The majority of the ministers are from Bagmati Province. From Bagmati Province, Shishir Khanal became the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Birajbhakta Shrestha the Minister of Energy, Water Resources and Irrigation, Sammit Pokhrel the Minister of Education, Science and Technology and Youth and Sports, Dr. Vikram Timilsina the Minister of Communications and Information Technology, and Sobita Gautam the Minister of Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs.

Khanal was directly elected from Kathmandu-6, Shrestha from Kathmandu-8, Pokhrel from Kathmandu-5, Dr. Timilsina from Nuwakot-1, and Gautam from Chitwan-3. Gandaki Province has 3 ministers: Swarnim Wagle (Finance Minister), Sudan Gurung (Home Minister), and Ganes Paudel (Minister of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation).

Wagle was elected from Tanahun-1, Gurung from Gorkha-1, and Paudel from Kaski-1. From Lumbini Province, Sunil Lamsal became the Minister of Physical Infrastructure and Urban Development. He is a directly elected Member of Parliament from Rupandehi-1.

From Karnali Province, a minister for Women, Children and Senior Citizens has been appointed. She was elected as a Member of Parliament through the proportional representation system.

Two ministers are from Sudurpaschim Province. Both ministers are from Kanchanpur and were elected through the proportional representation system. Gita Chaudhary became the Minister of Agriculture and Livestock Development and Minister of Forest and Environment, while Pratibha Rawal became the Minister of Land Management and Cooperatives and Minister of Forest and Environment.

From Koshi Province, Nisha Mehta from Sunsari became the Minister of Health and Population and Minister of Drinking Water. Deepak Kumar Shah, who won directly from Mahottari-2, became the Minister of Labor Employment from Madhes Province.
