Sudurpashchim's Pratibha Rawal Appointed Federal Affairs and General Administration Minister

Dhangadhi. Pratibha Rawal from Sudurpashchim has become a minister. Rawal, a proportional representative from the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP), has been given the responsibility of the 'Ministry of Federal Affairs and General Administration'.

She has long experience in journalism. The 32-year-old Rawal spent nearly a decade in journalism. She worked at South Asia Check, Republica daily, and eventually reached Galaxy 4K Television. The program 'Lalmohar' she hosted while at Galaxy was very popular.

As a producer of the program, she used to invite various stakeholders and policymakers to the studio and secure commitments from them regarding public issues. Seeing that these commitments often remained only in words and were not implemented, she felt that questioning from the outside is not enough for change; one must reach the very place where policy is made. This thought, along with the inspiration from Galaxy TV chief Rabi Lamichhane, led her to leave the camera and microphone of journalism and enter the political arena. She became actively involved in politics shortly after the establishment of the RSP. Born in Aithpur, Bhimdatta Municipality-6, Kanchanpur, Pratibha's childhood was not easy. Her father passed away when she was 5 years old.

After that, the entire responsibility of raising and educating her and her elder brother fell on the shoulders of her mother, Maya Rawal. Maya Rawal educated her children properly by sometimes running a shop and sometimes taking up teaching in Mahendranagar. Her mother's struggle made Pratibha strong. After passing SLC in Mahendranagar, she completed her undergraduate studies in Nepal and then completed her postgraduate studies from Chennai, India. She credits her mother for her current position.

'My mother's sacrifice and love for education have brought me to this position; I will prove myself through work,' she said. Gita Chaudhary, who also represents Sudurpashchim, has also become a minister alongside Pratibha Rawal. Chaudhary has been entrusted with the responsibility of the 'Ministry of Agriculture'. Both these ministers were elected to the House of Representatives through the proportional representation electoral system.
