Actress Priyanka Karki Questions Citizen Behavior Amid Hopes for New Nepal Under New Leadership

Amidst the fervent rise of dreams and hopes for a new Nepal with the new government and new leadership in the country recently, actress Priyanka Karki has raised questions about the behavior of the citizens. Writing a long status on the social networking site Facebook, she emphasized the truth that the country will not change just because the government or leadership changes, stressing the need for citizens to change themselves first.

Priyanka clarified the impact of small mistakes made by ordinary citizens in their daily lives on the development of the country. She pointed out that while we question why the country is not progressing, there is a prevailing tendency among us to break traffic rules, use influence or connections to expedite our work, and adopt 'shortcuts' in every opportunity. She stated that complaining that the country is not developing while exhibiting such double standards is meaningless.

Stating that the question should no longer be directed only at the government or leaders, Priyanka said the time has come for every citizen to ask themselves this question. She attempted to jolt the mindset of the general public by asking if we are truly ready to be honest, if we can adhere to discipline, and if we are ready to show our love for the country not just in words but also in action.

Priyanka concluded that the formula for making the country organized, clean, and strong lies not in grand political speeches but in the daily conduct of the citizens. She presented the reality that when citizens follow the rules, the country automatically becomes organized; when honesty is chosen, it automatically becomes clean; and when responsibility is taken, the country automatically becomes strong. She mentioned that the responsibility of changing the country is not solely that of any single leader or government but the collective responsibility of all three crore Nepalis.

Her argument is that the people of a country must be honest before its government can become strong. Priyanka suggested that the country will find the right direction only if citizens dare to change themselves, and she questioned herself on how ready she is to change for the country.
