Legal and Social Crisis Mounts for Canadian Actress Nora Fatehi Over Controversial Song Lyrics in India

New Delhi. Canadian-born Bollywood actress Nora Fatehi is currently caught in a serious legal and social crisis. Following the escalating controversy surrounding the song 'Sarke Chunar Teri Sarkhe' from the Kannada film 'KD: The Devil', there are now demands for her deportation from India.

A group of 10 lawyers has filed a formal complaint with the Indian Ministry of Home Affairs, demanding the cancellation of Nora's work permit and her immediate return to Canada. The Hindi version of the song is facing widespread criticism over the words used.

In their complaint, the lawyers claimed that the song is extremely obscene, sexually suggestive, and insulting to the dignity of women. According to them, Nora, who has been granted the privilege to work in India as a foreign national, has violated public morality and decorum.

Citing various provisions of the Foreigners Act, 1946, and the Passport Act, 1920, they have demanded strict action against her. The Indian government has already banned the song, and the National Commission for Women has also taken the matter seriously.

In this episode, the song's composer, Rakib Alam, has shifted all the blame onto the director, Prem. His argument is that this situation arose because the director forced him to translate the Kannada song word-for-word.

Interestingly, more outrage is being directed towards Nora Fatehi than towards veteran Bollywood actor Sanjay Dutt, who also appears in the song, or the film's producer-director. The lawyers have accused Nora of violating several sections of Indian law and the Information Technology Act, 2000.

Amidst the growing controversy and trolling on social media, Nora Fatehi has issued a clarification in her defense. She released a video on Instagram stating that she had no knowledge of the Hindi translation or the words used in the song.

She stated that she accepted the song, which was originally filmed in Kannada three years ago, because it was an opportunity to work with big artists like Sanjay Dutt. Claiming she does not know Kannada and that the production team changed her words during the Hindi dubbing without her permission, she asserted her innocence.
