Rain Spreads Across Nepal as Western Low-Pressure System Impacts Weather

Kathmandu. Due to the influence of the Western low-pressure system and local winds, the weather has changed, and the rain that started in Western Nepal has now reached Eastern Nepal.

Binumaharjan, a meteorologist at the Department of Hydrology and Meteorology, informed that it is currently raining in various parts of Eastern Nepal. She stated that while the entire country is experiencing cloudy weather with light rain in other areas, the rainfall is concentrated in the districts east of Nepal's central region.

According to the rainfall recorded at the measurement centers this evening, in the last three hours, Siraha recorded 32.2 mm, Udayapur 24.8 mm, Morang 21.8 mm, Sindhupalchowk 20.2 mm, and Khotang 11.2 mm of rain. Currently, only light rain is occurring in some districts of Sudurpaschim, Karnali, Lumbini, and Gandaki provinces. Heavy snowfall has been recorded in the high hilly and Himalayan regions this evening. The rainfall is currently centered in the east.

In the last 24 hours, Makwanpur recorded the highest rainfall at 46.4 mm, followed by Kathmandu at 45.2 mm and Dang at 42.6 mm. This is close to heavy rainfall levels.

According to the bulletin issued by the department's Meteorological Forecasting Division this evening, most parts of the country will remain cloudy tonight, with a possibility of moderate rain accompanied by thunderstorms, hail, and gusty winds in many places across Koshi, Madhesh, Bagmati, Gandaki, and Lumbini provinces, and in some places in Karnali and Sudurpaschim provinces, along with snowfall. Furthermore, heavy rainfall is possible in one or two places in Koshi, Madhesh, and Lumbini provinces.

Similarly, on Saturday, most parts of the country will be cloudy, with a possibility of moderate rain accompanied by thunderstorms, hail, and gusty winds, along with snowfall, in many places across Koshi, Madhesh, Bagmati, and Gandaki provinces, and in some places in Lumbini, Karnali, and Sudurpaschim provinces. The weather is expected to gradually clear up starting Saturday night.
