Nepal's Meteorology Department Warns of Severe Windstorms in Lumbini and Koshi Provinces

Kathmandu. The Department of Hydrology and Meteorology has advised residents to remain alert as severe windstorms are forecast for various districts in Lumbini and Koshi provinces on Friday and Saturday.

Issuing a weather forecast on Thursday, the department stated that intense windstorms are expected in areas including Dang and Nepalgunj in Banke of Lumbini on Chaitra 6, Friday.

Furthermore, the department indicated a possibility of severe windstorms on Saturday in areas surrounding Biratnagar in Morang, Dhankuta, and Dharan within Koshi Province.

The department estimates that the wind speed could reach approximately 33 meters per second (about 119 kilometers per hour).

The department has requested the public to take necessary precautions due to the risk of falling trees, damage to weak structures and roofs being blown off, as well as potential disruption to electricity and communication services caused by the windstorms.
