Nations Offer Mixed Reactions to Trump's Call for Military Escort in Strait of Hormuz

New York. US President Donald Trump is calling for military escorts for vessels transiting the Strait of Hormuz. Nations have given mixed reactions to his plan.

Meanwhile, the International Maritime Organization (IMO) of the United Nations has stated that escorting ships through Hormuz in this manner is not a sustainable or guaranteed security measure.

Arsenio Dominguez of the IMO emphasized that while military diplomatic guidance may reduce risks, it cannot guarantee 100% security for vessels. He stressed that merchant ships and their crews could still remain at greater risk. Iran has already threatened to close the strait for its adversary nations, which makes this route extremely sensitive.

US President Trump has called for the formation of an international naval coalition to secure the Strait of Hormuz. However, many European leaders have rejected this proposal.
