Former Minister Prabhu Sah Demands Withdrawal of Recent Political Appointments by Sushila Karki-Led Government

The Central Chairman of the Aam Janata Party and former minister, Prabhu Sah, has urged the government led by Sushila Karki to immediately withdraw the decisions regarding recent political appointments. Chairman Sah, issuing a statement via his Facebook on Monday, stated that it is against the essence of good governance for a government formed on the foundation of the Janji rebellion to decide on appointing its close associates to important state bodies.

He mentioned that it is condemnable and objectionable for a government on the verge of concluding its term after completing the elections to make political appointments that undermine good governance and transparency. Sah also commented that it is shameful for Home Minister Om Prakash Aryal, who is responsible for conducting the elections, to be recommended by the Council of Ministers for nomination to the National Assembly.

Likewise, he stated that Prime Minister Karki's appointment of her Chief Personal Secretary, Adarsha Shrestha, as the Chairman of the Nature Conservation Fund is a mockery of good governance and transparency. Recalling previous allegations that family members were given jobs in the name of the martyrs' families of the Janji movement, Sah said that such a decision strikes at the core spirit of the movement.

Chairman Sah stated that it is shameful that the government is busy appointing its close associates to state bodies without making public the report submitted by the investigation commission formed to probe the Janji movement.

He strongly demanded that Prime Minister Karki immediately withdraw both decisions and make the investigation commission's report public.
