Construction Intensifies on Modern Underpass at Sanga on Suryabinayak-Dhulikhel Road Expansion

Kathmandu. The expansion work to convert the Suryabinayak-Dhulikhel road section into six lanes is currently gaining momentum. An advanced underpass is being constructed at Sanga, the border between Bhaktapur and Kavre, as part of this road section, which has been under upgrading for the past three years. 

The underpass is considered a key component to resolve the traffic jam problem on this road section, which is currently narrowed to only two lanes. According to information provided by the project, the total length of this underpass will be 1,110 meters. 

To facilitate the construction work and connect access on both sides of the road, approach roads of 190 meters towards Banepa and 900 meters towards Bhaktapur are being built. The height of this underpass has been set at 6 meters and the width at 10.5 meters, which will allow easy passage even for large vehicles. 

Another significant aspect of the construction is that a 20-meter long bridge will also be built inside this underpass, which appears to make it structurally stronger and safer from an engineering perspective.

Upon completion of the construction of this road section, transportation services connecting Kathmandu to Eastern Nepal are expected to become faster and more efficient. The project is confident that this underpass will significantly reduce the risk of vehicle congestion and accidents currently experienced on the uphill climb at Sanga.
