Proportional Representation Vote Counting Nears Completion, Final Results Expected Soon

Kathmandu. The Election Commission has stated that the vote counting for the Proportional Representation (PR) category of the House of Representatives election is entering its final phase. The commission provided this update on Tuesday. Kul Bahadur GC, the Assistant Spokesperson for the Commission, indicated that the counting for the PR category is in its final stages and is expected to be completed by Wednesday morning.

According to him, the counting process is still ongoing in 3/4 electoral constituencies as of Tuesday afternoon. GC stated that if the counting pace continues at this rate, all electoral constituencies will finish counting by midnight tonight or by tomorrow morning, and the final results will be announced tomorrow morning or by the afternoon.

However, he mentioned that there might be some delay in announcing the final results if there are disputes between candidates or representatives in any location, or disagreements regarding valid and invalid votes. GC also stated that an average of 3 to 4 percent of votes have been found invalid.

He further mentioned that based on the data from the previous election, an average of about five percent invalid votes was estimated. Assistant Spokesperson GC stated that after the completion of the PR vote counting, the Commission will formally correspond with political parties for the seat allocation process.
