CPN-UML's Yagya Bahadur Bogati Elected to House of Representatives from Achham-2

Dhangadhi. Yagya Bahadur Bogati of the Communist Party of Nepal (UML) has been elected as a member of the House of Representatives from Achham Constituency No. 2. He was elected by securing 9,518 votes according to the counting completed on Sunday.

He was previously elected to the House of Representatives in 2074 BS. He has five years of experience in the federal parliament. However, Bogati was defeated by Pushpa Bahadur Shah of the Nepali Congress in 2079 BS. Shah won by securing 22,954 votes. At that time, Bogati had received 16,114 votes.

In the election held on Falgun 21, both Congress and UML nominated these two candidates from their respective parties. Shah and Bogati, who faced each other in 2079 BS, were again in the main contest this time.

Ultimately, Bogati won the election by a margin of 472 votes. Shah secured 9,046 votes. He was forced to accept defeat by a narrow margin. Bogati, the winner, is 50 years old. With this victory, he is heading to the federal parliament for the second time. He contested elections consecutively to enter the federal parliament for the third time.

Born in 2032 BS in Lachhimana, Mangalsen Municipality-3, Achham, Bogati is a leader who emerged from a simple farming family. He is the son of the late Tej Bahadur Bogati and the late Dhauli Devi Bogati, and he has a wife, two daughters, and one son in his family.

Bogati, who completed his formal education up to the graduate level (B.A.), was involved in trade and business for some time. He stated that after becoming a Member of Parliament in 2074 BS, he left his business and fully dedicated himself to politics.

Bogati's political journey began with the mass movement of 2046 BS. Starting his student politics with ANISU, he reached the responsibility of District Secretary and Central Member of ANISU through Campus Committee.

He stated that he struggled from the grassroots level in party politics as well. Bogati, who has served as a member of the UML District Committee, Secretariat Member, and District Secretary, is currently a Central Committee Member of the CPN-UML.

This is his third contest in parliamentary politics. He won by a large margin in 2074 BS on behalf of the Left Alliance, but he was defeated in the 2079 BS election. This time, the voters have reposed their trust in him and endorsed him.

Bogati stated that in his upcoming term, he will complete the unfinished works from the past. He said that he will prioritize the work of upgrading and expanding education, health, and road networks in Achham Constituency No. 2.

Furthermore, he mentioned that he will raise a strong voice in parliament in favor of the nation and nationality and keep a vigilant watch on building a corruption-free society. He also told Ratopati after his victory that he would emphasize the development of sectors including agriculture to improve the economic condition of the people, play a role in enacting pro-people laws, and strive to make the service delivery from government offices efficient and prompt.

'Many works started in the first term are incomplete; it is my duty to complete them,' he said. 'I will always be active in raising my voice for nationality in parliament and in the work of uplifting the living standards of the people.'
