Vote Counting Nears Completion for Nepal's House of Representatives Election

Kathmandu. The vote counting process for the House of Representatives election held on Falgun 21 is reaching its final stages. According to the Election Commission, the final results for most constituencies under the first-past-the-post system have been announced, while the counting for the proportional representation system is also progressing rapidly.

According to the latest information provided by Election Commission spokesperson Narayan Prakash Bhattarai, the final results for 155 out of a total of 165 seats under the first-past-the-post system have been declared. Counting is currently underway in only the remaining 10 constituencies, and work there is also proceeding at a fast pace.

The Commission stated that if there are no technical or other obstructions in the vote counting, the complete results for the first-past-the-post system will be announced by tonight or by tomorrow at the latest. The Commission also mentioned that counting for the proportional representation system has already commenced in the constituencies where the first-past-the-post counting has been completed.

According to spokesperson Bhattarai, more than 4 million votes have been counted so far for the proportional representation system. The Commission estimates that the entire counting for the proportional representation system will be completed within the next three days, as staff members are continuously deployed at counting centers across the country.

Spokesperson Bhattarai stated that the Commission has effectively mobilized all mechanisms to make the vote counting process fast, efficient, and transparent. With the first-past-the-post results reaching the final phase, the attention of the general public and political parties is now focused on the proportional representation vote count and the determination of national party status and seat allocation that it will dictate.
