Rastriya Swatantra Party Leader Om Paudel Resigns From All Party Posts and Membership

Butwal. Om Paudel, a leader of the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) and the head of the Lumbini Province Innovation and Startup Department, has resigned from all party responsibilities, including his ordinary membership. Paudel, who was also the former chairman of Rupandehi Constituency No. 3, submitted his resignation letter to the party's General Secretary on Thursday.

Paudel mentioned that he joined the party to show solidarity with Chairman Rabi Lamichhane's courage against the institutionalized corruption, setting, and criminal networks of old political parties. He stated that he feels his political duty related to the election voting and results is complete, and he has decided to live as an independent citizen from now on. He added that RSP was his first political party, and he felt it was appropriate to contribute from within while the organization was still developing.

In his resignation letter, Paudel sharply criticized the anomalies and opportunism within politics. Describing politics as a dirty game, he expressed sadness at seeing people within RSP exhibiting dual characters and desperately clinging to positions. He clarified that he is leaving the politics of flags purely to live independently and possess the strength to call right what is right and wrong what is wrong, not due to pressure from anyone or the pursuit of opportunities in other parties.

Although he gained the affection of many colleagues while in the party, he apologized to his fellow travelers, stating he resigned based on his own conscience without informing anyone. He expressed respect for those who enter politics driven by a zeal for social change but made it clear he does not support those who treat it as a profession or a means of livelihood. He committed to continuing to support capable and visionary individuals or groups as a citizen and fulfilling his responsibility to society in the future, even if he holds no position.

Having joined politics for some time due to circumstances and the demands of the moment, he has now concluded his formal journey with the RSP, promising to dedicate time to his own business and remain ready for legitimate political practice if the nation requires it in the future.
