Rastriya Prajatantra Party Candidate Gyanendra Shahi Takes Lead in Jumla House of Representatives Election

Jumla. In the election for the House of Representatives, Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) candidate Gyanendra Shahi has maintained the lead in Jumla, the only constituency in the district.

RPP candidate Shahi has secured 541 votes, while Nepali Communist Party candidate Naresh Bhandari is trailing with 435 votes.

Similarly, Congress candidate Deep Bahadur Shahi received 154 votes and CPN-UML's Shantilal Mahat received 72 votes, informed Harikrishna Timilsina, Assistant Chief Returning Officer at the Chief Returning Officer's Office, Jumla.

Assistant Returning Officer Timilsina stated that the Rastriya Swatantra Party candidate Binita Kathayat received 9 votes, the NWPP candidate received 3 votes, and 31 of the total votes cast were declared invalid.

The Chief Returning Officer's Office has reported that a total of 1,245 votes have been counted in Kanakasundari Rural Municipality Wards 1 and 2.

According to Election Officer Kandel, approximately 40,897 votes, or 57 percent, were cast in the direct election out of the total number of voters in the district. Of these, 21,185 were cast by women and 19,712 by men.

For the proportional representation system, 41,631 votes, or 58.03 percent, were cast. The District Election Office, Jumla, stated that the total number of voters in the district is 71,739. Vote counting has been underway in the district since early Friday morning.
