Government Ensures Smooth Supply of Fuel and Essential Goods Ahead of Elections

Kathmandu. The government has decided to ensure a smooth supply system for petroleum products and daily essential goods in view of the upcoming elections. The Ministry of Industry, Commerce and Supplies has decided to operate import-export related activities even on public holidays for this purpose.

The ministry stated that it has decided to manage arrangements to prevent unnatural price hikes and artificial shortages by making the regular monitoring process effective.

For the smooth supply of petroleum products, Nepal Oil Corporation will arrange to open sales depots even on public holidays and provide advance notice to all concerned, and coordinate with Indian Oil Corporation to further streamline the current import and distribution, it was stated.

The ministry has stated that it will not provide fuel for storage purposes other than filling vehicles from petroleum product sellers, will regularly monitor dealers and sellers to collect and update stock details, and will request all members of the public not to hoard unnecessarily as the supply of petroleum products and gas is continuous.

The ministry has decided to direct the Food Management and Trading Company and Salt Trading Corporation for the smooth supply of food grains and salt. The ministry has decided to continue the smooth supply system of essential food grains and salt and to collect and update the stock details in the warehouses under its jurisdiction.
