Father and son arrested in accusation of murder

Gaushala - Police have arrested a father in accusation of murdering his daughter here in the district. 

Shivaji Mahato and his son, Binod Kumar Mahato, of Hariban municipality – 5 were arrested in connection with the murder case, according to Superintendent of Police (SP), Raj Kumar Lamsal, of District Police Office, Mahottari. 

The father and son stand accused of strangling daughter – sister Santoliya Kumari Mahato, 25, wife of Bikram Mahato of Gaushala municipality – 2. 

The duo had thrown the body in a ditch inside a jungle of Sagarnath Forest Development Project located at Gaushala municipality – 8 following the murder. 

According to SP Lamsal, Santoliya was being accused of having illicit affairs with multiple partners. She had repeatedly ignored the suggestions made by her husband's family and her own family members to break up such affairs. 

After Santoliya did not comply with the repeated requests, she was called at her parents' house by her father and brother who then killed her by strangulation. 

Santoliya's husband is in the Middle East in course of work .The father and son were arrested at 3 pm on July 25. They have been detained at Area Police Office, Gaushala after an order from Mahottari District Court for extension of their custody to facilitate further investigation.
